People person is someone who is friendly and like to meet and talk with other people. There are some characteristics of people person, such as:
1. Good at greeting other people
Someone that is a people person will smile when he/she greet you. That smile can bring warm feeling and spread positive vibes, so that it makes you want to do the same thing.
2. Good listener
One important thing in communication is listening. Unfortunately, people sometime listening only to wait for their turn to speak. In the other hand, someone with people person characteristic will focus to you when you speak and will actively listening. They not only focus on listening to you, but also enjoy the conversation.
3. Show a humble attitude
Generally, people don’t like person that is always arrogant about himself. People like to see person that is humble and show that we are human.
Humility is not about blaming yourself and disrespect yourself. Being a humble person mean that you acknowledge other people’s value and you show interest to other people, not only to yourself.

As stated before, someone with people person characteristic is a good listener and interested to other people. That is why they can remember important thing about other people in more detailed easily.
How to be a People Person?
Now that you know what is people person and their characteristic, I will share to you about how to be a people person.
1. Avoid Monotone Response
There are any example of monotone response, such as when someone ask “How are you?” and we response with “Good. How are you?”. It will sound like robotic response. It is better to make it more personal. Example of the response is such as “Actually I feel very good this morning, yesterday my football club won the championship.” With that kind of response, there will be opportunity for follow-up conversation.
2. Ask, don’t Tell
Topic that people like talking about the most is themselves. So, we can show more interest to other people to bring positive vibes to them and they also can be interested in you too.
3. Be Quiet and Actively Listening
One of the annoying things in conversation is when someone interrupt the conversation before the other person finished speaking. This indicates that person is not listening, but rather thinking about how to respond. If you want to become a people person, do the opposite, that is to just be present, and responsive in your next discussion.
4. Beware Your Tone
Tone or voice modulation really matters. Sometime, other people feeling is affected not by what we say, but how we say it. That is why we must watch our tone when talking with other people.
